<p>Linux is a kernel, not an <astyle="color:#50fa7b"href="../operating-system">operating system</a>. When people say Linux in terms of <astyle="color:#50fa7b"href="../operating-system">operating systems</a>, they really mean Linux distributions, not the kernel itself.</p>
<p>If you are just starting out with Linux, you should try one of the following distributions.</p>

<li>Linux Mint</li>
<li>Zorin OS</li>
<li>Elementary OS</li>
</ul>
<p>Just don't use Ubuntu when starting out. It has degraded since the last few years.</p>
<p>After some experience, try these:</p>

<li>Fedora</li>
<li>Arch Linux</li>
<li>Gentoo</li>
<li>openSUSE</li>
</ul>
<p>These distributions are all solid and should last you a long time.</p>
